On February 2nd the website PopDust.com posted this article about Michelle and her recent post on instagram saying shes working on the new album. You can read the article below.
It’s been eight years since Michelle Branch’s short-lived female country duo, The Wreckers, released their one and only album, and 11 years since Branch’s last full solo effort, 2003′s Hotel Paper. Chances are that if you’re under the age of 20, you might not even know who the hell Michelle Branch is, but for those of you who do, we’ve got some good news — she’s finally working on a new album!
The now 30-year-old singer-songwriter confirmed the good news on Instagram, writing that she was “beyond stoked” to get “the new record started.”
If you’ve been keeping up with Branch’s career over the years, then you’ll know that this is actually the third “new record” that she’s started. The first, a country album called Everything Comes and Goes, was quietly released as an EP back in 2010, and a more pop-driven album, West Coast Time, failed to materialize after its lead single, “Loud Music,” couldn’t become a hit.
Branch has been vocal over the years about the various (and seemingly never-ending) label issues that have repeatedly stalled her career, even going as far as to admit that she once prayed to be dropped from her five-album deal with Warner Bros. Records. Warner’s official website still lists her as one of their artists, so hopefully things have been ironed out behind the scenes and Branch can finally release her next album.
By the way, can the new album please have another collaboration with Santana? PLEASE.
